Just added…

..Looking forward to seeing everyone out this Tri-Hamlet Saturday coming up. Wanted to let everyone know that I’ve just added another article to my ..our forgotten past series on the William J. Murray Photo collection that is available through Queens Public Library online.  In addition, my work with the MPHS has resulted in another Historic Marker approval, this time for the Mastic RR Station once located on Mastic Road at the crossing. The original building was put up in 1882 but was taken down in 1960. By the way, if you would like to visit the station, you still can. The Wantagh Preservation Society has a museum with a station that was exactly like the original we had here (see pics below).

The Wantagh station, built in 1885, was moved in 1966 to its museum location at 1700 Wantagh Ave, Wantagh NY.  It was then restored to its appearance in 1903.  For more information about the museum, link here.
